Gareth Flowers, trumpet

Gareth Flowers is a recent graduate of the Juilliard School, receiving his bachelor’s and master’s degrees under the tutelage of Mark Gould and Ray Mase. He has won numerous national and international awards for his playing, including the National Trumpet Competition and the International Trumpet Guild’s annual soloist competition.
In 2003, he made his Lincoln Center debut in the Peter Jay Sharp Theater, performing Haydn’s trumpet concerto with the Juilliard Orchestra. Gareth commissioned Crimson Joy (for trumpet and piano) from British composer Joseph Phibbs, and he performed the world premiere of Walter Blanton’s Jackson Street After Dark.
Currently, he performs across the U.S. with Burning River Brass, the International Contemporary Ensemble, the Philadelphia Orchestra, The Long Island and Brooklyn Philharmonics, the Second Instrumental Unit, and the Practical Trumpet Society.
