About Sound/Image Events
In the 2003/2004 concert season, the International Contemporary Ensemble, in partnership with Rosenberg + Kaufman Fine Art of SoHo, launched Sound/Image Events, a new concert series designed to join contemporary visual art with contemporary chamber music in ways that lead to new understandings of both media.
The potential for a new understanding of the visual through the aural and vice versa is both the inspiration for and goal of this series. Each concert in this series presents music chosen for qualities which either complement or comment on the work of the artist being exhibited at that concert. Performances of music by modern masters and by emerging composers are programmed in conjunction with Rosenberg + Kaufman’s exhibitions of some of today’s most unique and provocative artistic talents.
The 2003-04 Sound/Image Events season offered six highly successful concerts, featuring guest performers such as the So Percussion Group, Tony Arnold, and accordionist William Schimmel. The 2004-05 season promises to be even more exciting.
