The International Contemporary Ensemble’s monthly residency at The Tank continues December 3 at 7:30pm with a solo recital from rising violin superstar Jennifer Curtis, who effortlessly negotiates diverse styles of music with extreme virtuosity and charisma.
In a showcase of what The New York Times calls her “fiery technique,” Curtis will perform Peter Eötvös’s “Now, Miss!” (1972) for solo violin, synthesizer and tape, Germán Romero’s RAMAS (2002) for amplified violin, and her own arrangment of Giuseppe Tartini’s classic “Devil’s Trill Sonata,” Violin Sonata in G minor (c. 1714) for solo violin.
In this ICEcast, we feature a preview of her composition The Moon in the Sand (2006), which she will perform with mandolinist Joseph Brent at this concert.
