Six Japanese Gardens

saariahoICE will give a rare performance of the effervescent, enchanting music of Kaija Saariaho at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago on Thursday, November 19 at 7:30 PM. Brad Lubman will conduct, and Saariaho herself will be present to supervise rehearsals and answer audience questions during the concert. Visit the MCA website for tickets.

This ICEcast gives a peek into the luminous color and striking textures of Saariaho’s sound-world — listen to ICE percussionist Nathan Davis discuss the unique sound of her Six Japanese Gardens for percussion and electronics, and hear a selection of his 2006 studio recording of the piece.
