This Valentine’s Day, skip the rom-coms. Instead, get your drama from the heightened interplay between performer and part, as ICE joins open-form pioneer Christian Wolff at Brooklyn’s ISSUE Project Room for the first concert in ICE’s new On & Off the Page series. Featured will be Mr. Wolff’s classics Exercises, Tilbury, Serenade, and Tuba Song, his recent Microexercises, and the New York premieres of Duo 7 and Duo 8.
Christian spoke to us over the phone to discuss the evolution of his compositions, working with a new ensemble, and why there are so many Exercises. Hear the interview, as well as some candid audio from ICE’s rehearsals, in this episode of the ICEcast.
