“I Want To Be Just Like You When I Grow Up”: Notes from Elementary Schoolers

Last month, ICE did one of our Listening Room workshops at Swift Elementary School in the Edgewater neighborhood of Chicago, programmed by Tricia Von Eck of The Happiness Project.

Eric Lamb, Claire Chase, Josh Rubin, and Jacob Greenberg, our Education Director, worked with students for two hours to create a graphic score, which was then rehearsed by our musicians and performed for the students' parents. We had a blast, and there were some pretty remarkable sounds coming from these young people's graphic scores!

ICE intends to continue working with students in The Listening Room workshops throughout Chicago and NYC public schools.

For those of you in NYC, we're holding a FREE special children's performance of Marcos Balter's Æsopica at the BAC on Thursday night! Reservations are required (and disappearing quickly) - make yours here.
